Startup With Purpose program was my first taste of the world of entrepreneurship. It was challenging and intense, yet incredibly informative. I discovered a lot about the world and the direction I want to take my own career.
Me? An entrepreneur? It doesn’t sound very likely. But the mindset and entrepreneur has can be life-altering, and may aid one in persuading a person or group of people and having a successful career. As such, coming back to school after winter break to the entrepreneurship week my school offered for juniors didn’t seem very interesting. However, after being split into groups in order to come up with a plan and a project, I started enjoying the program. With the help of my group, I started looking forward to meeting people, discussing ideas, and working on a product. After several interviews and intensive research, we were able to choose a societal issue and to come up with our own action plan in regards to solving it. At some point in the program, we were not interested in winning as long as we felt satisfied with our final result. After all, according to one of the mentors in the program, “You were created to conquer!”
Jordan’s youth are rich in diversity and in ambition; they only lack opportunities to help them succeed in life. This partnership promises to open a lot of doors for them.
That is our goal, not to spit out entrepreneurs, but to have entrepreneurship be a vehicle to learning about yourself and the things that you enjoy so you can make sure the career path you choose has more joy in it.
